This is neko-yanagi at a nearby farmhouse.
This year too, the buds are getting to swell. So a shot.

This mild winter results in walking dogs not so hard.
This morning we went down to the path along paddy fields.

387. That's why
A tulip tree at a nearby square has leaned somewhat since the typhoons of last year, and seems to be judged dangerous and cut down last week.
To our surprise, it was a hollow tree as in the photo. It was a big tree with a nearly 1-m diameter trunk. This must be the reason why only this one has tilted.

386. Fishing under bleak wind
Owing to today Feb. 11th holiday, there appear many anglers along Shin river bank in Yachiyo. There are many on the other bank too.
The weather is fine but cold. They gaze at the water surface in silence without even trying to talk to the adjacent fellows.
They are all much alike, ossan (older men), and female is seldom seen. Silently gazing at the water all day long in the cold can be done only by the ossan, most probably.

385. Swan
Fine weather today. To Moto-no-mura to see swans wintering there.
It is said more than 800 swans arrived this year.
In preparation for the coming journey to Siberia, they were trying to spread wings and to fly in formation.
Seeing them flying from the side, it looks the air resisitance is too large for their long-distance flights.
However, seeing from the front, the cross section toward the flight direction does not seem to be so much, as they keep the long necks and legs horizontal.
My experience in radio-controlled model-plane, the landing requires the utmost attention.
Their landing maneuver indicates that they control not only the wings but also the foot webbings, by spreading and narrowing, and by extending and retracting left and right.

384. Fine weather
Fine weather brought me to a nearby zen temple.
Roku-jizou (six-jizou/Ksitigarbhas) at the gate, and the hanging bell inside the housing seen behind the wall.

383. Unagi 5000-km migration
A poster at the cafeteria of Fisheries Center close to Jinbei Bridge of Inba marsh.
(It explains the migration route of unagi (eel) found around this area.)
Years ago I met a young man at the boat pier of this marsh, who was studying the unagi life at a university. He mentioned that he also go to the east of the Philippines on board a research ship. The eel research looks a hard task as they are anywhere, in the deep sea, rivers, lakes and marshes, even on the mauntains.
The menue of this cafeteria includes namazu (cat fish). I tried this rare dish. Though I had expected a particular flavor to that fish, it was too light for me to feel something distinctive. This might be because of its tempura cooking.

On the ground, at the every key point, this type of vehicles all with engine running stand by toward the spectors' passages.
This is the one near the area where the Patriot missile system is positioned.

U.S. Army also participated with the C-130.
This too drops from the right side door instead of the rear ramp door. The interval of troopers' jump out is very short.

A pamphlet of JGSDF 1st Airborne Brigade for the start of the parachute drop drill.
This is a real spectacle as hundereds of paratroopers drop from various aricraft and helicopters, as if it weren't already enough, in a relatively short period of time.
Unfortunate weather today, cloudy and occasional rain, gave the outlooks like these photos.
The C2 of Kawasaki make. I saw this for the first tme. Paratroopers drop from the right side door.
This is surely larger considerably than C1, and looks it can fly to anywhere.
